Suspicious Driver Arrested Near Supreme Court

Michigan man apprehended by Capitol Police.

On Tuesday, Capitol Police took a man into custody after they observed a “suspicious vehicle” near the Supreme Court. The suspect had parked his SUV illegally near the court building. The man, who is from Michigan, refused to speak with police negotiators.

Capitol Police Deputy Chief Jason Bell said, “Our officers immediately responded. The man refused to talk, made a statement to the effect of ‘time for talking is done.’ At that time, we backed off.” He added that after an hour and a half had passed “our teams moved in and removed him from the vehicle and placed under arrest.”

Chief Bell concluded, “It’s still an active investigation. We don’t have motivation at this time.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Capitol Police as they seek to protect the Capitol Hill complex.
  • For officers to have wisdom and awareness as they interact with the public and possible security threats.
  • For safety for the justices of the Supreme Court as they began their term in person this week.
